Task: Biological interaction occur on a variety of levels, such as between organisms and their environment on an ecosystem level, and between cells and their components on a microscopic level. You and your group will have the task of researching one of the body systems that is key to a functioning organism and describe how it contributes to regulation, nutrient absorption, reproduction, and the defense from injury or illness in humans. Your research must cover all the required content listed below. Upon completion of your research, your will create a visual representation (Tri-board) of your findings to present orally to the class. By the end of this performance task, we can all have a greater appreciation of the complexities of the various organ systems that work together to keep our bodies functioning and maintaining homeostasis. We will also be able to see another way that biological interactions work tother to maintain life.
Option: Powerpoint with voiceover
Requirements:
o Visual representation of the components of the body system
o Overall function and purpose, including its contribution to maintaining homeostasis in the human body.
o Description of key organs that contribute to the system.
o Breakdown of one organ in the system structurally, down to the cell that make them up.
o Including a drawing/diagram AND description
o *Remember: CellsTissueOrgan Organ system.
o A specific example of how the system utilizes a positive feedback mechanism
o A specific example of how the system utilizes a negative feedback mechanism
o THREE specific examples of how your body system interacts with other body systems
o Relating to your body systems’ contribution to regulation, nutrient absorption, reproduction, and/or defense from injury or illness in humans.
o At least 4-5 references are cited properly in MLA8 format.
o Evidence that all group members equally contributed to the performance task.
o Research notes are included for each group member.

Evaluation: On the following pages, your will be able to see the criteria that will be used to evaluate the performance task. The information is provided as both a rubric and a checklist. This will count as a 100-point grade. The main components you will be graded on are:
o Research
o Content
o Appearance
o Presentation
o Group work

Checklist For Human Physiology Performance Task
Use this list to make sure your group has completed every aspect of the performance task. You may also use the rubric I will be using as a reference too. It’s a good idea for your group to practice your presentation as well as you feel comfortable and can explain your body system without just reading your content to us.
Research:
Group fully researched the selected body system for all required components.
Group includes 4-5 references in proper MLA citation.
Content:
o (Knowing)All information is detailed, factual, and summarized.
o All information is interpreted correctly.
o (Applying)Body system is visually represented in an appropriate and accurate way
All the required components listed below are included and fully covered:
